Giving Tree Provides 500 Gifts

Presents delivered throughout the Blackstone Valley

The Giving Tree Program provided about 500 gifts for individuals and families throughout the Blackstone Valley this Christmas, spreading joy and hope from St. Aidan-St. Patrick Parishioners. Deliveries headed out Dec. 18, with special stops to local nursing home residents, Project Hope families and St. Gabriel’s Call – with at least 50 gifts for new moms and babies. Donated hats and afghans were also distributed to families and newborns.

Giving Tree organizer and parish member Pauline Turenne shared a story from the activity director of a participating nursing home: “She said a patient who has had several strokes and no family was quite sad yesterday because he said he had no one who cared about him at Christmas. She told him not to worry, as she knew the ‘Big Guy’ and she was sure he would be remembered at Christmas,” Ms. Turenne said, adding that the gentleman was one of this year’s Giving Tree recipients. “That’s just one of the stories that makes Christmas so much more enjoyable.”
